About the Role

As a Lecturer in Psychology, you will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching that motivates learners to achieve excellent outcomes. You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons, monitor student progress, provide effective assessment and feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will also support the wider student experience through pastoral tutoring, curriculum development and participation in departmental activities.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Deliver outstanding teaching and learning that inspires students to succeed.
• Plan and prepare engaging lessons and schemes of work that support learner achievement.
• Use innovative teaching methods and digital technologies to enhance learning.
• Assess learners through high-quality formative and summative assessment, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Monitor student progress, attendance and achievement, taking appropriate action to support success.
• Act as a Personal/Pastoral Tutor, supporting students' wellbeing, progress and aspirations.
• Maintain accurate student records, registers and assessment documentation.
• Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of courses.
• Work collaboratively within the curriculum team to achieve shared objectives.
• Participate in course promotion, student recruitment and interview activities.
• Maintain and develop online learning resources.
• Keep your professional and subject knowledge current through continuing professional development.
• Uphold the College's commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion, health and safety and excellent customer service.

Essential Requirements

You will have:

• A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), or Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
• A recognised teaching qualification (or be working towards one).
• Experience of successfully teaching Psychology or a related subject (or successful teaching practice for Early Career Teachers).
• Experience of planning engaging lessons and schemes of work.
• Knowledge of effective assessment practices and strategies that support learner achievement.
• Experience of using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
• An understanding of safeguarding and inclusive teaching practices.
• Strong organisational, communication and IT skills.

Desirable

• Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience of mentoring colleagues or trainee teachers.
• Experience of curriculum development and quality improvement within Further Education.
