Job Introduction
Join our Learning Resource Centre team and help support students to achieve their full potential in a welcoming, inclusive and innovative Further Education environment on a part time, permanent basis, working 3 hours per day across the College LRC's.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Learning Resource Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of our Learning Resource Centres (LRCs). This role is ideal for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills who enjoys working with students and staff and has a passion for learning, libraries, digital literacy and customer service.
The successful candidate will provide first-line support to students and staff in locating and using library, information and learning resources, while helping to create a positive and purposeful learning environment across the College.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the libraries, delivering excellent customer service and a proactive, responsive experience for all users
- Work flexibly across College library and LRC sites, adapting to changing service needs and supporting a wide range of library services
- Manage physical and digital library resources using the Library Management System
- Support students and staff in accessing and using library facilities, resources and digital services
- Maintain a welcoming, organised and accessible library environment, including regular shelving and stock management activities
- Provide front-line IT support, assisting with IT queries and referring users to specialist support where appropriate
- Assist with printing, photocopying, scanning and the use of online learning platforms and electronic resources
- Support opening and closing procedures in line with College processes
- Undertake general administrative and clerical duties, including statistical record keeping and cash handling where required
- Assist with collection management activities, including stock maintenance and resource organisation
- Work collaboratively with the Librarian to promote library services, resources, campaigns and events through displays and promotional materials
- Monitor and update online library learning environments in partnership with the Librarian
About You
You will have:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Good IT and digital skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and online systems
- The ability to support students positively and professionally
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible and proactive approach to work in a changing FE environment
Experience working in a library, learning resource centre, educational setting or customer-facing environment would be advantageous.
Please note this role is 3 hours per day, 5 days a week.
